This compelling page-turner was certainly worth my time. One of the marks of a good writer is their ability to elicit a reaction – positive or negative – from a reader towards a character or characters. Mary Ann was one flawed heroine and I did not like her, but I loved that she felt like a real person. That sinking submarine is the stuff of nightmares. Well done Jeffrey Mechling!
